I taught Art for 30 years in Derbyshire and Cornwall but now I'm able to devote more time to painting. My main inspiration is the sea, in ever changing weather conditions. This part of the Cornish coast offers amazing subject matter, stormy seas, dramatic skies and light on water. I often use mixed media to create surface texture.
My paintings are mainly in oils on canvas, up to a metre square. In my recent beach paintings I have tried to capture a sense of space, vast skies, empty beaches and untrodden sand washed by the tide.
I have had solo exhibitions and group shows since 2006, mainly in Porthleven but also in St. Ives and Helston. I was a member of Creftow Gallery for 6 years and took part in exhibitions in various galleries in Cornwall. I have also had work in Webbs Fine Art Gallery in Battersea.
